Nomination Day

Today I make it official – I’m running for town councillor here in Paradise. It’s not a decision I made lightly, but have given it a lot of thought over the past several months, years really. I had absolutely no intentions to run for public office but I have taken a huge interest in the town and the direction it has taken over the past 8 to 10 years. I don’t like all that I have seen.

The main points of my platform include:

  • A balanced approach to development
  • Ensuring sufficient green space
  • Financial accountability
  • A new pool
  • Meeting infrastructure needs
  • Working with all levels of government to secure funding for a  junior high school
Signs and brochures have been ordered and I’m supposed to be interviewed by The Shoreline newspaper next week. Exciting and somewhat daunting times ahead. It’s going to be a busy month to say the least.

  1. You taught me Math 1090 and 1000 in University. If you're half as good at being a councilor as you were as being a professor than you've already secured my vote!

As well, try to push for a couple of tennis courts in the town. They're great for exercise and I assume relatively cheap considering not a lot of effort is needed to build or maintain them! Would love to see something like this in the town.

    Good luck with the campaign.

  2. Thanks for the kind words. You're right, we could use more tennis (and basketball for that matter) courts. Relatively inexpensive to build and a good investment.

    Again, thanks for your support.

    Cheers
    Chris
