I just got back from the airport where I dropped off my wife, kids, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and nephew. They are going on a two week vacation to Florida, spending a week in Disney. I had to pass ;) but they'll have a great time I'm sure. For the next two weeks, there's no driving kids to sports, work, girlfriend's house, making lunches, etc; it's just me and the cat and I'm looking forward to some down time. I'm not sure who's going to have the better vacation. Now that may sound a little selfish, because to be honest, it is.
I do have some work to do, particularly with an online course I'm teaching for the first time this fall, but there's no urgency. But for the next two weeks, the forecast calls for lots of BBQ, golf, poker and beer. I know, I know - you're thinking how selfish. And you're right. But I don't care...lol

When a fella writes a post like this at 5:33am, you know he's pumped about the immediate future! Bonne vacances Chris. Fill yer boots on the BBQ & beer with some golf mixed in to clear away the methane! LOL
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs some down time and alone time once in a while. It's always best when it's voluntary and intentional. Live it up and enjoy :)
ReplyDeleteI've been looking forward to this me-cation for a while now. And yes, yesterday did include golf, a BBQ and several adult beverages :) Forecast for today calls for more of the same.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I did get some work done outdoors - mowed my and my neighbours lawn.
Happy to report that the family is safe and sound in Florida. They'll have a great time I'm sure. And while I'm enjoying the freedom now, I know I will start to miss them...eventually :)
Hey bud ... you didna say you wuz gonna take a me-cation from posting words of wisdom here for we wee masses. ;-)
ReplyDeletelol...just a wee bit busy this week...started a new job believe it or not - so much for the me-cation...hope to post in a day or so
ReplyDeletegood luck on the new job. is that the academic thing you mentioned earlier in the blog?
ReplyDeleteThanks VP. It's at the same place I work at now, but in a different capacity - although I will still be doing some teaching. It's a change so I'm looking forward to it.
