A Good Walk Spoiled

Last Saturday was a glorious day; sunny, slight breeze with temperatures a couple of degrees below zero - as good as it gets for February in Newfoundland. I decided to take a walk around Neil's Pond, camera in hand. It was once a really nice walk. However, development has now encouraged directly on to the trail and, in many places, there is no buffer between houses and the trail itself. As you can see, the area being developed has been clear cut, something which I could never understand. It’s quite unsightly to be honest.

Message to council: Residents don't want this. Developers do. Please stop rezoning land to high density residental. And stop clear cutting what's left of the trees in town. It's time to put an end to this type of "development".

    Sad story you tell Chris. The short-term gain scenario comes to mind. Wonder how many others are saddened by the clear-cutting? It is a nasty way to deal with our planet.

      It is bad VP and if no one steps in, it will only get worse. I can't understand why every tree has to be cut. After houses are build (on 50 by 100 foot lots) two token maples are planted in the front yards.
