Leave it to me to tempt fate. It was just last week I commented to a friend that the weather was – and is – so bad that I was lucky not to have caught a cold. Well, wouldn’t you know it, twenty-four hours later I have a sore throat. Really sore. The wake you up in the middle of the night kind of sore. That’s normally an indication that a cold or flu is about to hit. And sure enough, I get flattened with a bad head cold. Don't think I’d classify it as the flu, but the symptoms include a stuffy head and bad cough. No aches and pains - yet.
Apparently, there are a lot of other people with the same thing. Easy to see given the crappy, damp and cold weather we’ve had here on the Avalon for the past 6-8 weeks. Yesterday’s high was a balmy 7 degrees. And that’s not counting the cold northerly wind. We had nicer days in January.
Oh well, springtime in Newfoundland. But the capelin are rolling in Holyrood so maybe warmer weather is on the way. In the meantime, pass the Buckley's.
