As difficult as it is to believe, it’s was twenty-five years ago today that the song Take On Me by the Norway’s A-ha hit #1 in the US. 25 years. Yikes. I remember the song mainly because of the video – a combination of animated black and white sketches and live performance. And it actually tells a story. It’s ranked #4 best video of all time by Stylus Magazine.
According to their official website (and Wikipedia), they have sold over 35 million albums worldwide plus more than 25 million singles, making them the best-selling Norwegian music act in history and the second-best-selling act from Scandinavia of all time after ABBA. They are still yogether, although they plan on retiring after shows scheduled for December in Norway.
For those reading who may be unfamiliar with the group or time (Lord, I’m getting old), you may have heard the song, most likely from the video below. Sorry if the song gets stuck in your head.
