Too Early For Fall

It’s another unseasonably cool day today - overcast and 15 degrees with a cool wind out of the east. The average daytime high is around 20. The forecast for the next few days calls for more of the what we are getting today. I’m hoping that our all too short summer, which began on July 8th, is not yet over. Yes, July 8th. That day started a string of weeks with sunshine, high temperatures and more than a few days of high humidity – something we are not accustomed to here in Newfoundland. On July 7 it was a balmy 7 degrees! 7-7-7. Seventh month, seventh day, seven degrees. Sigh.

On a positive note, it’s not raining and the long range forecast calls for some sun and temps in the mid-twenties. But you can really feel the fall in the air in the evenings though. That being said, fall in Newfoundland is a great time of the year. Here’s hoping, as good as it is, autumn stays at bay for a few more weeks.
