Rogers Can Kiss My ...

WTF is up with Rogers cable? It’s been almost two months of dropped signals and pixelization. Channels often freeze up and sometimes – like this past weekend – disappear altogether. These problems seem to exist throughout the northeast Avalon as well as the west coast.

A phone call to “customer service” results in an obligatory “we know there’s a problem and we’re working on it”. My ass. Working on it for two months?

But it gets better. Rogers is now going to charge $8.95, plus tax, for high-definition stations we were already receiving. Their rationale is it would put us in line with prices charged in Ontario and New Brunswick. Yes, Rogers - that last bastion of capitalism.

The changes were set to occur on November 26th, but due to technical difficulties, they did not take effect until December 16th. Good thing they had the technical difficulties fixed. What’s their new slogan now? Welcome to Rogers - now pixelizing pictures in high-definition! Not really a selling point.

To offset the increased fees, they were allowing us to have the new/old high-def stations free for six months and did offer some new stations. Nice of 'em. But most of these were news channels including CNN and CBC News Network. Who, in God’s name, wants to see Larry King in high-definition? And nobody needs to see vowels bought in 1080p.

But this is the final straw for me. My notice is on the way. I should have done it a long time ago. I just hope I can put up with their shitty voice activation system one more time.

[Update: For anyone wondering, I did change the post title slightly.  My youngest heard me mention it and say that it was a bad word daddy. Hmmm...My Blog. His Rules?]
