01/01/10

Just realized it's a binary date. Reminds me of the old joke that there are 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't. Groan.

But it’s a new decade and I realized that anyone born in the 1960’s, which includes me, will turn 50 sometime within the next ten years. Ouch. Some sooner than others obviously, and sometime this month I will officially be closer to 50 than 40. D’oh.

It seems like yesterday I couldn’t wait to turn 17 so I could get my licence. Or turn 19 so I could legally have a beer. The twenties and thirties have come and gone. University, marriage (only one thankfully), kids, two houses, a dog, a cat – it’s all a blur. It still amazes me that the Y2K threat was ten years ago. Man oh man, where has the time gone?

With the new year comes the obligatory New Years resolution – you know, lose weight, stop smoking, get in shape, yada, yada, yada. I’m not one to make any resolutions mind you, as it sets you up for disappointment. But if you are into making resolutions, click here for some suggestions.

Common sense is what’s really needed and it shouldn’t be a resolution. Exercise, eat right, don’t smoke and alcohol in moderation. Works for me. In the meantime, I’m off to the gym. I think I hear my hip starting to break.

Happy New Year.
