Planes, Trains and Automobiles has always been a favourite and it’s usually played a lot on TV this time of year given the American Thanksgiving. John Candy and Steve Martin (a.k.a Del Griffin and Neal Page) are hilarious in this John Hughes directed classic. I suspect it will have added meaning this year with the sudden passing of Hughes in August at the age of 59.

To Canadians (well me anyway) the US Thanksgiving means two things – football and “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.” More on that later this week.
To Americans, in addtion to spending time with family, it marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season - Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The numbers are staggering.
