No Good Bastards?

I’m no political scientist, but I think calling your unemployed constituents “no good bastards” is probably not a good idea.

That’s what Conservative MP Gerald Keddy said Tuesday in the Halifax Chronicle-Herald. Keddy, who is parliamentary secretary to the Minister of International Trade, Stockwell Day, wasted little time in offering an apology.

As you can imagine there have been calls for his head. Mental heath advocates and spokespeople for homeless groups are particularly outraged - and rightly so. A protest is planned on Parliament Hill later today. The Globe and Mail's Jane Taber also weighs in.

With a comment like that, it’s a good bet Mr. Keddy will be soon be joining those "no good bastards". Lord knows he already is one.
