On The Mend?

It’s been almost a week since I had surgery to remedy an inner ear condition that has plagued me forever and I’ve got to say – it still sucks. The procedure has fairly routine and done in day surgery (what isn’t these day?) but I’m still suffering some side effects. Dizziness, vertigo, loud ringing in my ear – I SAID LOUD RINGING IN MY EAR – general pain and discomfort. I’m not a fan of the latter two. I tend to break out in tears.

If it weren’t for the “growth” behind my eardrum, I likely would not have gone through with the operation. But according to my doc, the thing was growing and would cause serious problems down the road – so out she comes.

And if the discomfort and pain (did I mention the pain?) wasn’t bad enough, the boredom is worse. I’ve been pretty much horizontal since last Tuesday, which unto itself sounds great, but in reality blows chunks. How many times can one person watch Mantracker? Or Mike Holmes fix a house? Honestly. I don’t know how some people stay home and do nothing, but I’m sure plenty do. I think I’m on boredom’s deathbed. It has reminded me to make sure I have a plan when I retire.

I have been able to some work using my laptop, which makes being home somewhat bearable, but I’ll likely be off for a few more days. I wouldn’t trust me to drive. My wife doesn’t trust me when I’m not on the DL (disabled list).

You may have notices that I changed the look of the blog. I’m still tinkering with it but it’s been a while since I did this. So expect some more tinkering and changes.

On the council front, I’m getting some positive feedback on a run for council. I’ll talk more with friends and co-workers at work – many of whom live here in Paradise. Some will say I should have my head checked. Maybe they’re right. But it’s still early.

Now, where did I put that remote?

    1. Thanks for the kind thoughts WWW. And yes, I am reading somewhat. Also, started penning a new short story...it started out well, but I'm been stumbling a bit with it. I may put it away until I'm fully recovered.

  3. PS Isn't having both a capcha AND blog owner approval like taking the birth control pill AND wearing a condom? :)
