This is a reaction to a new law in Arizona that allows police to question and detain anyone in the southwestern border state they believe may be an illegal immigrant, even if they are not suspected of committing another crime.
Let's hope it's gets declared unconstitutional. There's some movement from the Obama administration.
Although, surprise, surprise, Republicans think it's okay.
From msnbc.com: House Republican Leader John Boehner told reporters today that he "respected" Arizona's newly-passed immigration law. At a brief press conference following the weekly House Republican leadership meeting, Boehner carefully avoided saying whether or not he agreed with the law, but said, "We respect the people of Arizona and their right to write their own laws."

ReplyDeleteArizona has a history of this sort of thing. It was the last state to recognize Martin Luther King Day. It finally did so after threats of boycotts (and losing the Superbowl).
