Super Bowl XLIV is this Sunday and like other fans, I look forward to watching the game with a few friends (and some beverages and lots of food).
Super Bowl parties are held in many bars and rec rooms across North America and have become somewhat of a phenomenon. But outside of hardcore football fans such as myself, it’s probably the only game most people see all year. Many watch just to see the commercials. With a 30 second spot going for $2.5 million, companies go all out to make “that” commercial. You know, the one that’s talked about at the office on Monday morning.
There is even a Super Bowl commercial contest sponsored by Doritos - with $5 million in prize money - where averages joes send in a spot. Check out this year's finalists here.
Over the years there have been some memorable commercials. Below are two of my favourites.
