From Y2K to yesterday

From the Boston Globe, which does its usual masterful job of catching news events and stories with pictures.

It's hard to believe that the decade has gone by so quickly and how much has transpired over those ten years.

Many images will be familiar, but some will bring back memories of stories we may have forgotten. From hanging Chads to Abu Ghraib prison to Paris Hilton to the tsunami that claimed hundreds of thousands of lives - it’s all here.

Here is one example.

A Russian police officer carries a released baby from the school seized by heavily armed masked men and women in the town of Beslan in the province of North Ossetia near Chechnya, September 2, 2004. An armed gang, holding hundreds of people hostage in a Russian school, on Thursday freed four infants and at least two women. By the end of the crisis, over 385 people were killed including 31 hostage takers and 186 children.

Photo 12 is very poignant and makes you realize just how lucky we are.
