Today is Black Friday in the US and Canada too for that matter, when shoppers line up early (or go on-line in increasing numbers) to get “deals” on Christmas gifts. It gets its name because it was traditionally the day when crowds of shoppers pushed stores into profitability.
It’s also a mad rush where fights and worse have occurred. And those deals are not what they may be cracked up to be.
As for me, I just hate shopping.
Throw in the fact that you may get killed by some mid-aged cougar prowling for the perfect gift for her kids in an attempt to show up her ex or by some teen who just has to have the newest i-whatever, I’ll take my chances on-line.
Of course, that has lead to a new phenomenon – Cyber Monday where you’re dinged with delivery charges.
We guys just can’t win. Sigh.
